Fully Qualified Domain Name

  • Host/Subdomain Name:
    • This is the specific name assigned to a resource within a domain. For example, in the FQDN www.example.com, “www” is the host or subdomain name.
  • Domain Name:
    • The primary domain to which the subdomain belongs. In the example www.example.com, “example” is the domain name.
  • Top-Level Domain (TLD):
    • The highest level of the DNS hierarchy. Common TLDs include .com, .org, .net, and country code TLDs like .uk or .ca.
